Frequently asked questions
Do boy and girl shoes use different size charts?
No. Boy shoes, girl shoes, toddler boy shoes, and toddler girl shoes use the same foot-length chart. Choose width or style for fit preference, but match US C sizes from centimeters first.
What shoe size is a 1-year-old?
A 1-year-old typically wears a US toddler size 4 or 5. Their foot length is usually around 4.5 to 4.8 inches (11.4 to 12.2 cm). However, it's always best to measure their foot for the most accurate sizing.
What is the shoe size for a 3-year-old boy or girl?
Around age 3, many children wear about US 8C–9C (roughly 15–16 cm foot length on our age guide). Boys and girls use the same numbers—measure both feet to confirm.
What is the shoe size for a 5-year-old boy or girl?
Around age 5, many children wear about US 11C–12C (roughly 17–18 cm). This is approximate only; use the kids shoe size converter with foot length in cm.
What is the shoe size for a 6 or 7-year-old boy?
Around ages 6–7, feet often land near the end of toddler C sizes or early youth (Y) sizes. Check the 5–7+ years table below, then convert with the kids shoe size converter. Age averages are not a substitute for measuring.
What is baby shoe size 4?
US baby/toddler size 4 is usually labeled 4C—about 11.6 cm foot length on our generic chart (UK ~3.5, EU ~19.5). See the baby shoe size chart section for sizes 1C–5C.
What age is size 6 toddler shoes?
US toddler size 6 (6C) is often near age 2 on average charts, with foot length about 13.3 cm on our generic table. Age is only a rough guide—measure both feet and match cm.

How do I convert euro toddler shoe size to US?
Match EU to the toddler rows below or use the kids shoe size converter. Roughly, EU ~22 ≈ US 6C and EU ~23.5–25 ≈ US 7C–8C. Foot length in cm is more reliable than the EU number alone.
Is there a toddler shoe size chart UK?
Yes—each toddler US C size on this page includes a UK column (for example US 6C ≈ UK 5.5). Use the UK value with the same foot length in cm.
How do I measure toddler shoe size?
Have your toddler stand on paper with the heel against a wall. Mark the longest toe, measure both feet in centimeters, use the larger length, and match the toddler shoe size chart. Measure in the afternoon and leave a little growth room.
How often do I need to buy new shoes for my toddler?
Toddlers' feet grow incredibly fast! It's common to need a new pair of shoes every 2 to 4 months. You should check the fit of their shoes regularly, at least once a month.
Should I buy shoes that are a little big?
It's a good idea to leave a little bit of growing room, about half an inch (or a thumb's width) between the end of their longest toe and the front of the shoe. This ensures the shoes aren't too tight and allows for some growth, but avoid buying shoes that are excessively large as they can be a tripping hazard.
Do different brands have different shoe size standards?
Yes, different brands often have different sizing standards. For example, Nike shoes might run smaller than Adidas, and some brands may have wider or narrower fits. Check our brand shoe size charts or use the kids shoe size converter with foot length in cm.
